pere marquette brown trout

my good friend Carl with a great pere marquette brown trout
Brown trout fishing is starting to get good! my good friend Carl Ashley and I decided to do a little “scouting “trip on the pm river today I wanted to see how the heavy rain we got a couple days ago had made the river look, the river fished great only a half hour into the trip Carl rolled a good looking brown and a little after that he hooked up with this 20 incher that made the day! that fish took a white colored fly that was inspired by the circus peanut.the rest of the day was a flurry of hookups with several more good browns that found there way to safety and more that we couldn’t get a hook in. the river was high and stained but stripping large streamers seemed to be the trick.flies of choice in this stained water were: white and pink circus peanuts, yellow Gallup’s zoo cougar and woolly buggers of lighter colors fishing them on the current seams works best.we used 91/2 foot temple forks rods with sage fly reels with a 200 gr Rio sink tip.
